Submit an Annal

Write an item for possible inclusion in our Ongoing or Gap Annal for an event in 2024 AD, the shorter, the pithier the better, give it atmospheric, be your item extra/ordinary;  word it with the descendants in mind.  Separately to the item give us some background to the item. 

Please also suggest an item perhaps from your district, family ancestor(s), or specialist interest for our Gap Annal  between 1591-2019AD for Ireland its diaspora and occasionally we include Scottish items in honour of the almost two centuries our ancient in Annals were written up in Iona.  Be clear about the day/date &year.  No more than 999 characters, the shorter the better, the more likely to get emplaced into De Reir Book. All items even if they do not go on parchment will be printed-out or if posted, stored.  Explain the background to your item in not more than 99 words giving origin, context, fact checkability etc. and why you chose this particular fact. 

Our service is for free but we would love if you could DONATE to our ongoing project.  €15-25 per item as we need to vouch for each new event item and for administration - we are a not-for-profit. ADOPT A VILLAGE, PARISH OR TOWN 

Adopt a village or parish or town as a focus to explore over the missing 430 years. Ideally your own locality. Adopt a subject, note its ups and downs or evolutions from 1591-2019 e.g. Seaweed harvests, irish speakers of Meath, Tipp hurling, red heads, county cricket, rickets, travellers’ movements, accents, disinformation in the early 18th century, cross border smuggling, minorities (religious or ethnic ), going to the seaside, wolves and how to avoid them.  It can be obvious or as obscure as you wish.

Adopt a family/ your clann name and fill us in on what they were up to across the annals missing centuries; their heroes & antiheroes, their saints, tycoons or ne'er-do-wells.

Irish centres & Irish pubs (abroad) become a conduit for letting us know about people and events in your far flung part of the world both for the ongoing annals and for the 1591-2019 gap annal
